Revelation...

--

It is 2:45 on Thursday and the director of our daycare just called...I assume it is about Bella because she is still fighting these allergies we are all fighting, but her's seems to be lingering a bit more (especially the cough). But no, it is about Brooklyn. Her face is broken out AGAIN! It's been almost a month since the last breakout! We thought we had narrowed the cause down to the Parents Choice brand wipes they use at daycare - we knew they couldn't use them on her bottom, but daycare had been using them to wipe her face and such after meals. Once they stopped doing that- it seemed to clear up, until today that is!

This morning - we gave the girls showers - something we normally do at night, but we were all exhausted last night and we opted to get to bed instead of showers. So they got in with me this morning! As I was drying Brooklyn's hair with the hair dryer - she spotted some Burt's Bee Buttermilk Baby Lotion and asked for "cream, cream". So I gave it to her. And as I put it in her hand - I thought, if she breaks out today, we'll know what it's from - but then didn't give it a second thought! Until Holly called....She said that Brooklyn is acting fine, took a good nap and is eating well - so like usual, it doesn't seem to bother her!

So - we now have an allergy to strawberries and an allergy to something in the Buttermilk Lotion that Burt's Bee makes!

Poor Brooklyn

--

I've posted before about Brooklyn's allergy to strawberries. We were hoping she'd grow out of it. We discovered it in May 2007 when I fed her a whole jar of strawberry-banana baby food and the next morning she was broken out all over. She got over it and never had any trouble breathing, etc - just a full-body rash.
--
We tried her on a teeny-tiny slice of strawberry about 4 months ago (give or take) and still no good. She did not get the full body rash - but she did have a reaction.
--
This weekend she got some berry flavored gatorade - not strawberry flavored, berry - but apparently it was enough. She's had a rash since Sunday morning. We gave her a couple of doses of Benedryl but then we just have to let it run its course.
--
She is also harboring a terrible snotty nose and is tugging at her ears. Brannon checked her ears last night and they are not infected. The right one, which she seems to be favoring, was quite full of wax. We're just home-doctoring for now with garlic ear drops, which seem to be helping her alot!

Poor thing....I hate it when they don't feel 100%!
